In West Hollywood, even the raccoons have attitudes (0)

Pulling into my driveway tonight, I saw a large raccoon making its way over to the next-door neighbors’ front yard. It was going kind of slowly, and I didn’t want to hit it, so I honked my horn at it. Instead of scuttling off like I thought it would, it stopped dead in the middle of the driveway, turned its head, and gave me a withering look.
I wasn’t sure what to do next. It’s not every day that a raccoon throws you shade. I hesitated for a moment, and then I flashed my brights. It ambled away as if it had all the time in the world. As I turned off the engine and opened the car door, I wondered if the raccoon would come back around and try to start some shit. I considered running across the grass, but the sprinklers had just gone off, and I was wearing flip-flops. Instead I hurried down the driveway and up the path to the front door.
That raccoon should check itself, because despite what it seems to think, it is not all that. Besides, fur is so two seasons ago.
